From Avallon to Autun (or vice versa, the GTM is signposted in both directions), the Great Crossing of the Morvan by mountain bike, in more than 330 km in total, will give you a taste of the beauty and variety of atmospheres and landscapes. of this exceptional small mountain, classified as a natural park since 1970. Through successions of hills which rise towards the south, sometimes interspersed with deep and wild valleys, you will discover the Morvan in depth, as well as its emblematic sites: old town of Avallon and the Cousin valley, the Château de Chastellux overlooking the Cure, the Crescent lake, Quarré-les Tombes and the Duc forest, the Benedictine abbey of Pierre qui Vire, the Saint-Agnan lake and its thematic path, the forest of Breuil and its downhill trails, the house of the real "condensed Morvan" Park, Saulieu the city of the great animal sculptor François Pompon, the lakes of Chamboux and Settons with their facilities for discovering the environment, Anost, the Haut Folin summit of Morvan and Burgundy, the granitic chaos and the exceptional panoramas of Uchon, before the grandiose arrival through the Planoise forest which overlooks Autun. Designed for a week, the GTM can be adapted to weekend circuits, or even day trips.
